GOVERNMENT OF ONTARIO WELCOMES TOYOTA AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENTS SUPPLIER TO SOUTHERN ONTARIOToyotetsu Investment Secures More High Value Jobs For Ontarians
TORONTO — A $50 million Toyota auto parts plant is the latest investment in Ontario’s automotive industry to bring jobs and prosperity to the province, Economic Development and Trade Minister Joseph Cordiano announced today. Toyotetsu Canada’s automotive components plant will begin operations in Simcoe next year, creating 250 jobs at startup. The plant will supply the existing Toyota plant in Cambridge and the Toyota plant in Woodstock, scheduled to open in 2008. “This is the first major automotive components plant to invest in the region and is yet another vote of confidence in Ontario’s vibrant and innovative auto industry,” said Cordiano. “The Government of Ontario’s strategic auto strategies have attracted an unprecedented level of auto investment — close to $6 billion. That’s great news for our industry and for families right across Ontario.” Ontario emerged as the leading auto-producing jurisdiction in North America in 2004 and 2005. “Toyotetsu’s decision to invest in Ontario raises the province’s profile as a key automotive manufacturing centre in North America,” Cordiano said. “It also demonstrates that Ontario has what it takes to be a business success: great location, skilled workforce, and excellent health care and education systems.” Contacts Presse :
