ONTARIO GOVERNMENT WELCOMES NEW AUTO MANUFACTURER TO ONTARIO
Hino Canada Investment Brings New Jobs and Prosperity to Local Economy
WOODSTOCK — The Government of Ontario is proud to join Hino Motor Sales Canada in announcing a new diesel truck manufacturing facility opening in southern Ontario. “Hino’s decision to expand its presence in Ontario is further proof that our government’s automotive strategy is working,” said Economic Development and Trade Minister Joseph Cordiano. “This plant will bring greater prosperity to the people of Ontario by creating a number of new jobs every year – high value, high skill jobs – and countless spin-off employment in related sectors.” Hino Motors Sales Canada will open the new commercial truck assembly facility in the Patullo Business Park in Woodstock. Production at the new plant will begin in April 2006. The company currently has an office in Mississauga for the sale of Hino trucks and parts to the Canadian market. Hino sold over 1,000 trucks in Canada in 2005. “I want to thank the Ontario government for its unwavering support in this venture,” said Axel Breuer, Vice President, Hino Motor Sales Canada. “We’re proud that we will be contributing to the prosperity of the province.” The company will invest in excess of $3 million in manufacturing equipment in the plant and create at least 45 jobs. Hino Motors Sales Canada’s continuing commitment to Ontario raises the province’s profile as a key automotive manufacturing centre in North America. “By choosing Ontario for this new plant, Hino is confirming that our province has what it takes to attract foreign direct investment – great location, skilled workforce, excellent health care and education systems,” said Cordiano. A key objective of Ontario’s investment and automotive strategies is to attract new investments like this one as well as to solidify the footprint of other auto assembly plants operating in the province. In just the past two years, Ontario has welcomed close to $6 billion in new auto investment. Contacts Presse :
